Prompt tracking
Also called Buyer question tracking
Prompt tracking is running a fixed set of buyer questions through AI engines repeatedly and recording what each answer says. It is the AI counterpart to rank tracking, with one structural difference: the output is a rate across many runs, never a position.
Choosing the prompts
The prompts that matter are the ones a buyer would actually type before choosing a vendor, phrased the way a person talks to an assistant. Questions containing your brand name are the least informative, because an engine asked about you will nearly always discuss you. The valuable prompts are unbranded ones where the engine chooses who to name.
How often, and how many runs
Because answers vary between runs, a single check on a single day is closer to an anecdote than a measurement. Repetition is what makes the number trustworthy: several runs per prompt per engine, pooled, with the sample size reported beside the rate. A tool reporting a daily figure from one answer per prompt is reporting noise with a decimal point on it.
